Green Breakfast Smoothie

IMG_7835This green smoothie is one of the most filling and nutritious breakfasts you can have! I usually get a bit hungry mid-morning but this breakfast keeps me going for hours.

Spinach is a great green to use for beginner green smoothies because it blends easily and doesn’t have a strong flavour. It is also loaded with important nutriments like iron, calcium, vitamin K, vitamin A, fiber and much more. The phytonutrients it contains have been shown to reduce inflammation in the body and reduce the risk of cancer and hearth disease. The frozen banana and oats make it deliciously thick and the hemp protein powder provides healthy Omega-3 fats.

Ingredients (serves one) :

2 cups spinach

3/4 cup almond milk (or any other milk)

1 banana (I like using frozen bananas)

3-4 strawberries

1/2 cup oats

1 tbps hemp protein powder (or other protein powder)

Method:

Start by blending the spinach and the almond milk together.

Add the oats and blend again until smooth.

Finally, add the banana, strawberries and protein powder.

If you like it sweet, you could add some maple syrup or honey.
